Cook$, wish you all the best with both the long term project and the ride. Dunno if you have gone through the finer points like logistics? I.E. getting to LE & getting home from JOG before and after the ride, getting your bike serviced/set up for the ride (like getting a local bike shop involved). I would also suggest setting up a just giving page as it widens the scope of your sponsorship opportunities.
as pete says have a word with the manager/owner of your local bike shop. Sure they'd at least service your ride free and let you leave a collection box?

And while you're at it invite the local press to the hand over of your bike, good publicity for you, the bike shop, the school. the ride and the project, not to mention a positive 'human interest' story for them too!

The local press will be called nearer the time. I should be getting my new bike just before I set off, but I will be hassling the local bike shop for some spares and what not. To get too and from LE and JoG I'll be going on trains, bit expnsive, but got to be done really. I will be staying in guest houses along the way, as it saves me taking a tent and what not.
All the people who have offered me places to stay may well get taken up on their offers, depending on the distances I have to travel, I'm looking to do between 80-100 miles per day, so if someone lives 150miles from my last stop and 30 from my next stop, it doesn't make sense for me to stay there however I am still very grateful for the offer. I'm currently planning the route, I've pretty much almost done it, but I still have to sort out my guest houses, which I will start working on soon. And another thanks to the people who've sponsored me!

Its a very good cause, but I must ask.

£100,000 for a f**king swimming pool!? The last hydrotherapy pool I saw was just big enough for 2/3 people (1 patient, 2 trainers/supporters), it had jacuzi style jets and a moving floor treadmill type thing.

No way could that cost 100k, could it? Would be cheaper to build one otherwise imo :)

That is cheap by the way.

I don't think you know just how much goes into these projects, and I can't be bothered to explain, that is one hell of a good price.

Cook

PM me your details mate, it is a very worthy cause, also can you claim the tax back from the donations? If so I'll give you name and address to help boost your cash

I bet I could build 1 for cheaper using stuff from the Koi keeping industry.

Fair point, and that's exactly what I thought when I first heard the figure, but it's not just the pool, they need somwhere to put it, i.e. another building/extension to the school. Open air therapy sessions just aint gonna wash :)
