How to you get air out of a paintball tank without shooting it out?

I fitted last week a new reg, and got the tank with 3k in. To get it empty I used a remote line, screwing the ASA part that press the pin slowly, took me like 2 mins to get it empty (and cold as ice for the fast lost of pressure!!!).

Thanks for the suggestions guys. In the end I released the burst disk very gently and let the air come out. Only took a couple of minutes.
