Thanks guys, but when i search on that National rail site all i get is a route which includes the walk for 7 minutes,,, is there no way of getting there without having to walk between stations?

Tube line (picadilly) to South Kensington.

Change onto circle line (yellow on map) round to Liverpool Street. Trains to Basildon every 1/2 hour.

And £160 to Gatwick? My god, ripped off is an understatement. £60 top whack

Agge - I've just checked the National Rail site and the 7 minute walk they're referring to is when you transfer from the underground at Tower Hill, to the overground rail station at Fenchurch Street.

My grandmother might take 7 minutes, but I do it in 1 minute, twice a day - and have done for the last 17 years.

It's not a walk through some dodgy suburb, you're next to the Tower of London in central London. I can do you a photo-journey on my way into the office tomorrow if you like, but trust me, don't let that bit of the journey put you off, it's REALLY short and in one of the most touristy areas of the country.

Right mate, I just looked on here, www.nationalrail.co.uk and found this, Heathrow Bus Terminal 5 to Woking ( Going by Bus ) Departs 21.05 Arrives 21.15, Depart Woking ( by train ) 21.21 Arrive at London Waterloo 21.49, now I know this is very tight but this is what it says Depart Waterloo at 21.49 and Arrive at West Ham at 22.37, then Depart West Ham at 22.49 Arrive at Basildon 23.17..........Thia is the only way where you don't have to walk as any other way by train you have a 7 minute walk from Tower Hill to Fenchurch Street, So there you have it mate but just check the webb site above.

Hope that Helps

Easiest route which does not involve the interchange from Tower Hill to Fenchurch St.:

Heathrow -> Hammersmith (Piccadilly Line towards Cockfosters)
Hammersmith -> West Ham (District Line towards Barking or Upminster)
West Ham -> Basildon (c2c Trains towards Shoeburyness)

However, it would probably be slightly quicker to get off the District Line at Tower Hill and make the short walk to Fenchurch Street. You probably have to walk further to get from the plane to the baggage reclaim at Heathrow.

If you are still unsure about the walk, the route I said first works. All you do is board the train at Liverpool Street and change at Fenchurch Street. Its how I am getting there.

Or just do that walk!! It isnt far at all.

I'll have a cold one
