It was invented by canadian lumberjacks, to mark trees for cutting. they needed to mark up high enough, because bears used to rub traditional paint marks off, when using the trees to have a scrath, and yes, the proceeded to mark each other, and anything else that moved, for that mater... without goggles!!! lol
