How do you know if Paint is "Old"

you can tell if paint is old by how soft the shell is in some parts, discoloration, dimples, cant think of others right now

Found a old pod once in the forest at the field i work at.

Opened it up and turned it upside down and the balls were all stuck 2gether lol

i was playing a tourny last month..

dropped a pod of paint in game 1 and didnt notice it until about game 3 or so..

later on in the day around game 15 or so, i happened to find a pod with paint so i guess it made up
