How do we beat the chrony cheats?

I think as far as loosening screws, tricky adjustments and such are concerned, there is a simple, player led solution.......

LEARN HOW TO TECH YOUR MARKER:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Most blowback semis have easy velocity adjustment and as said above if that range doesn't do it then springs can be cut etc, but if the player doesn't know one end of the gun from the other or indeed what the parts they're adjusting actually do then it's easy to make mistakes. I had one player come to see me whilst I was sitting under a big box full of PMR bits and ask how to get his Ion under 330fps, no disrespect to that guy but a couple of questions found he was turning the velocity adjusting nut the wrong way:D Guns come with manuals, and there is enough information out there online to turn any goober into an instant expert (I am living proof;)) so for the best day possible don't treat your gun as if the insides were full of dragons but instead spend some time learning how it works and what each part does and you'll have a lot more fun. Just don't tell anyone else about you new-found knowledge unless you really, really like allen keys.

As for those players actively trying to exceed the limit for an 'edge', well them's some big old woods and you wouldn't find a body for years.....

Too true...but be warned some guns do actually contain dragons...well, pixies but still them pixie stix are damn pointy and sharp

And as for allen keys..well luckly for me I like them so I impart knowledge, and its usually a "errmmm Balf would you mind just taking a look at my Shocker its being a bit urrmm wierd"

As for chrony cheats, SP have a tourney lock for Ion regs that stops the nut from being able to be adjusted, also most Shocker regs have a bottom set screw which should be tightened so the brass spring housing cant be turned, thus no input pressure adjustment meaning no velocity change.

Now ive never seen an Ion reg lock in use, i dont bother with the bottom set screw on my Shocker reg because its just another tool to put in the tool pot, and as i only play tourneys i dont take tools on to the field anyway, they just sit in a pot by the chrony and get picked up when i leave the field.

So maybe a no-tools on the field option should be employed at scenarios/big games, i played staargate last year i chrony'd everytime i went out, and i checked it about 5 mins before i went out after i stopped for lunch, this it due to the gun having been sat for a long time giving the bottle time to warm up due to it being quite sunny day, wherever I play I do this, its become second nature now.

If a site/tourney/game limit is 280 I usually run at 260 this is jsut to keep my gun in limit if there is a spike, if the limit is 300 9/10 times i wont bother adjusting from the 260 my Shocker is usually set at but that is down to sheer laziness on my part and if I do change it its to around the 280/285 mark, again to stop a random spike that could cost me a game, I personally would ratherwin a game and have a gun in the limit than chance it and run the risk of losing a tourney winning game due to a gun penalty that can be avoided.

Hot guns are my personal pet hate of the sport. It's dangerous and completely unnecessary!!

If you want to longball at a Scenario game then quite frankly you shouldn't be on the field. If you want to be a support player then fine but do that close enough to the action that your actually firing effectively. Anything else is just a waste of paint.

I also agree an instant sanction where a player misses game time, and a repeat offence leads to an outright expulsion from the game, are the way forward. You've paid to play an event then why risk being kicked off because you wanted to push the boundaries??

As also said above there's no excuses for pleading ignorance of the FPS limit when it's well publicised at games or for not knowing how to change the velocity on your marker. If you learn nothing else about marker maintenance at least learn to adjust the velocity - it's a safety issue at the end of the day!! Do you want to be the player that injured someone else just through pure ignorance??

With reference to the A5 - the more you unscrew the velocity adjuster the higher the FPS goes up. As dear old Spike used to recommend, start with it all the way in and then unscrew it half a turn at a time to get to the right velocity. An A5, IMVHO, works best around the 260 mark due to the harshness of the internals on the paint. This is also a good figure to get to because if it does spike (A5's aren't the most consistent in the FPS department) you have a good amount of leeway to still be below 280.

And Gups - is not penis envy it's just guys with no game - and that can be found in all arenas of this sport!
