Hi, I don't know how many of you will have seen it but there is one person (Rhino) who is making a nuisance of himself. Now he got banned as Rhino, but then came back as Rhinos-back! and then got banned again. Now he is more than likely about to get banned again as rhinos-back2. He seems to have a bit of a problem with Philip (and now cjohns for banning him) yet everytime he gets banned he just keeps coming back under a new name. So how can we keep muppets like this out of our beloved forums?

the forum will have logged his IP address the first time round (I assume) so he cant come back on that PC.

It all depends how many different computers he has access to as he can re-register from different locations and not get stopped automatically. (I think)

thats not strictly true,

as modem uses will have totally different ip addreses evry time they reconnect to the internet, the same with broad band users,

The only time, when ur ip stays the same is if u have cable.

It's easy to find out for the mods what IP adress is being used. However, when someone gets banned, which thankfully doesn't happen often unless your name is Manike :D , all that gets banned is the username, not the IP address. I guess that makes the job a little more taxing for us mods, but hey, we make 5 figures a month, so it's all good.
This character we're on about hasn't done any harm in 'my' part of the boards yet, but rest assured, I'll keep my eyes open for this kid.

IPs change with cable as well - they use DHCP just like dialup or adsl.

Knowing his IP address will still work though - as ISPs maintain records of who was allocated a specific IP address at any given time. If he continues being a pest, contact the ISP and let them know the IP address and the date and exact time that the posts were made and they'll be able to identify who it is.
