ok, has any one tried to make there own ACE system, ive been looking on the racegun site, and there breakbeam ACE looks very simple to manufacture, and would probably cost in the region of £2.50 to make. if i was to buy the photo emitting diode, and a phototransistor (sender and reciever) would i simply have to wire them in series so that the circuit is broken when a ball is present??

does anyone have a drilling template for fitting ACE to a evolution cocker???

I doubt the detector could switch enough current to activate the solenoid, you'll probably need to have a fet or switching circuit to pass the current.

ive just downloaded the ACE install guide off the race website, and apart from getting the right plug to fit the board, seems pretty straight forward, however, the kit featured in the install guide seems a little dated compared to the new wire kits they sell in their shop, will have to have a play, and see if i can make one!! will get it working before i drill the body!!! if it dont work, i guess i will have only lost a couple of quid, seeing as the transmitter and reciever are only 59p each!!

If it's just what you say, to add on the the existing board. Then you may only need the emitter and detector, make sure of polarities and whether the detecter is npn or pnp.

go on tom, what does npn or pnp mean??? u see, im not stupid, and i can use a soldering ion etc, but if this is going to be a silly idea, i will buy the corect thing. i think belsales sell them, but god know how much they will want for one!!!

The detector will be basically a light switch, but this is done with a phototransistor. The phototransistor has it's own polarity, which identifies how it switches, either npn or pnp. Basically it switches from positive, or to negative.
My electronics knowledge isn't brilliant, but this needs to be checked.

i will have to have a word with belsales, on the us site, they work out at £21 ($40) which i still think is expensive if i could make one, but if they are that price over here, it would probably save a lot of hassle!
