Hey, I'm new to paintball and after a read of the forum I decided to register.
Sorry this might be a long post but I have a few questions.
I went to one of my local sites today with my brothers and loved every minute of it. I have been a few times before when I was younger but this time I really got a taste for it.
After doing some digging into the sport online I thought I might give it a go. I read that walk-on days are the place to start, is this true?
Welcome to the forum and to the great game, I started the same way a couple of years ago I played at a delta force site for my stag do, my prior experience was 20 years ago at a mates birthday. Loved it then as well, signed up here, got some great advice, headed off to a walk on where I met a load of really great fellas. I then bought some kit went again a couple of weeks later and the rest is history!
A great thread here:

Also I will be going on my own, is this done in paint-balling? I don't want to look like a loser with no friends. If it is OK to go it alone what are the people generally like to newbies? I'm not the most confident person when I'm alone around a bunch of I don't know.
Nothing wrong with going it alone most people I have met have been really helpful (we all start as new), let me try markers and masks all before I bought stuff and generally shown me the ropes, I don't drive either and I had people offering to give me a lift, etc. I now have loads of people I consider friends as a result.
The other place Delta Force from what I can see are boasting better equipment and games but I don't really know much about that. From what I could see also they don't have a walk-on day.
Could someone maybe have a look at the two and give me someone advice?
Not sure if Delta even do walk-ons, it's rare I know that. Lots of postings about walk-ons and big games here:

I was also debating getting a mask so I look like I know a little and made an effort. There is no way I can get to a shop to try them out so are then any masks you would recommend? I could spend up to £80.
What mask is a big question, I went out and bought Vforce Profilers and ended up only wearing them 4 times as they did'nt have thermal lens's and fogged up, one of the marshals lent me his JT Proflex's and they were great so I got a pair, I now use Empire E-flex gogs which are a newer version. Bottom line try before you buy because personal preference is important you could be wearing them a lot (20mins-2hrs) I have wasted money by not doing this. I went to my first walk-on day with nothing and simply said I am looking into getting into the game, hung around for a bit borrowed some gogs tried a couple of markers on the range and went home (to start researching and shopping
)
Good luck and maybe we will meet out on the field sometime
