You will prob need the following.....

1.1 Fibre Air £80
Hopper / loader (Eggy) £25
Mask £30
Pack £12
Pots x 5 £5
Squeegeeeee £5
Barrel sock £5
Batteries £10

....... as a minimum.

I've put prices of what I think you would pay for reasonable quality used bits bought from the classifieds. This would leave you about £130 which would get you a very up'd ion from here.

If you decided to start off with a 0.8l 3000psi air this would put that down to about £40 and leave you £170 which could possibly get you a used proto marker.

Choice is yours....

Barrel Sock is listed (notably without an edit).... :)

You don't need pants, jersey, gloves. They are nice to have's. As for a kit bag, when I first started out I used a backpack I had in the house.

Just to kit yourself out, be able to play and be safe, I think I've listed the must haves.

First time he gets shot hard in the hand, he'll buy gloves, when he's sick of hurting his knees and legs, he'll buy pants, when he is sick of getting shot on the forehead, he'll buy a beanie, etc etc etc.

With the £300 starting budget make the best of the must haves before moving any further. My 2p's worth..

Well the greater the pressure the more shots you'll get from a fill. For walk-ons you'll really only get 3000psi fills, but if you play tourney, or go to big games then you can get a 4500psi fill.

From an average marker, 0.8L tank @3000psi you'll prob get about 500 shots, 1.1L tank @ 3000psi about 700 shots, and a 1.1L tank @4500psi about 1100 shots.

I had a 0.8L 3000psi and I sometimes found it frustrating cos I would run out of air mid-game if it was a bit paint heavy. I now have a 1.1L and even at 3000psi fills find that I have enough air to shoot the paint I comfortably carry. I kept the 0.8litre for a spare.

If you feel your budget can stretch to it, get a 1.1litre 4500psi fibre wrap.
