Hey,

I'd recommend you pick up a pair of Proto/Dye pants first, they cost only about £15 second hand in good condish, far more important than a jersey as you can just wear an old hoodie, which does a better job.

everyone has their own brand preferances, some due to sponsorship others due to the way it looks/performs, i'd suggest going to a couple of games/stores and trying out a few different variations, though for brand names there is dye, planet eclipse, proto, bob long, tippmann, vanguard, smart parts, dlx (dont think smart parts are going anymore but their products are still out there) another brand is angel and also dangerous power

each have their strengths and flaws.

Your E-vents will be fine there a nice mask.... for a hopper i would suggest a dye rotor probably not tht cheap to start off but you ask anyone on here it will never miss a beat and you will never have to upgrade!! as far as markers go if you were looking at getting into speedball i would look at something like an etek 2 very reliable and reasonably priced.... and on the woodsball front id go for a Tippman X7 or something of that standard.... as you stated you will need an air bottle you can pick a steel one up on here for £30 ish or a carbon wraped one (Preferably if you can afford) for £75 ish and as Rat stated below site/tourneys offer free air refills all in the walk-on/playing fees....

Hope this helped..........:)

Thanks for the advice peeps,
ive been looking in the sales forums and ive seen a PMR.
( http://www.p8ntballer-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?143183-Pmr ) i know off_the_break says he had a few problems but as i want a decent marker im willing to risk it, however im going to need to purchase a hopper and air bottle.
Now a DYE Rotor has been suggested so i may have a look at the prices of them and maybe price them up :)

The main thing for me is there is alot of things with air bottles that concern me, ie safety.
What am i looking for in ratings etc ? Where do i get them inspected ? are all bottles using the same thread size?

Thanks, pete

air bottles tend to come in two variations, a steelie or a fibre wrapped. steelie is the straight up can of steel as you'd normally find at a rental field. a fibre wrapped is as the name says..

fibre wraps tend to be a lot lighter than steelies, though a bit pricier.
all bottles tend to use a standard thread size and will usually fit all markers.
ratings? there are 2 fill sizes 3000 psi and 4500psi. a lot of players prefer 4500psi tanks as they can accept a bigger refill if it is offered, whereas a 3000psi tank will only accept 3000psi.
Inspected, a company called HPac seems to be the main that offers testing and inspections, however if you buy new you get about 5 years worth of life in it before it needs testing.

Safety, if you are unsure as to how to refill, use an air tank someone at your local site will show you, i also believe one or two tournaments offer a quick training session on how to safetly handle tanks and give those that attend a pass to show at future tournaments.

hopefully buying an Etek 3 LT, Ive been advised to buy a DYE Rotor and a Guerilla air 4500psi Bottle... Anything else i need?
Im not in a rush to get the Rotor and Bottle as i wouldnt be able to afford till 15th of next month as the Eteks going to kill my bank balance :(

Also seeing as im relatively new to this is there anybody that lives in Lincoln itself or the Newark-on-trent area as its going to be a struggle to get to some venues and events as i dont drive yet ( should be driving soon when i get a payrise and can afford to do my test :D )

Would be willing to pay petrol etc...

best bet is to put that money towards the tank and rotor first and borrow a marker when you go and play and then you can get a marker, this way you get to try a variety of markers aswell whereas if you buy the marker first and not the tank/hopper how are you going to get the gun working?
