Punter / rental play is the average person off the street shooting at/with their mates
Walkons take that to a different level with regular players, but instead of playing with mates it's playing with paintball mates. This works out cheaper then punter play, but most people just play to their pocket and end up spending the same money but for more paint
On top of these are events and tournament style
Events are usually one game per year at a site with people travelling the country to them.
These can be a festival atmosphere, mixing various kinds of paintball over a weekend or just one big game with hundreds of players
Scenarios fall within these events, a true scenario takes a storyline and integrates that into the game play. You can still just shoot it out, or you can consider the value to the objectives of what you are doing. With specific objectives and timeframes everything can depend on you capturing or holding a location, but after it's been held it may have no further value, so move onto the next objective.
Tournament style puts in a sporty feel & competitive edge, these are short team based games that last a few minutes at a time
Just turn up and play for now, look around at what people are doing and using, ask where they are going next
And most importantly just enjoy
