Hard decision Ion or Wrath?

The Ion is a blowforward type design, the Wrath is your pretty typical shove-a-pneumatic-ram-into-a-spyder-clone-body. They're like little brothers of the Shocker and, say, the Timmy and friends. There's plenty of fanboys for each design (spool valve/ram-poppit), you'll have to decide for yourself which one you like better, but put it this way, they'll both shoot faster than your fingers will move or your loader will feed, so who really gives a damn? They're both decent entry level type markers, but I too would suggest saving another hundred dollars and getting a second hand Angel or somesuch (older angels are really well built markers, but because WDP release a new version every couple weeks, the resale is horrible. Bad for the people who bought 'em new. Good for the people buying 'em used).

Personally mate although Im sure some people would disagree, I would side with the Ion over the wrath.

For the price both are exceptional markers and are perfect starter markers for those wishing to keep up with the big boys out on the field.

However the Wrath quite simply has more to go wrong with it and will require a lot of maintenence whereas the Ion is very compact, very simple, and easy to maintain and tweek.

Internally the Wraths insides have been squeezed in and this makes any work and maintenence more difficult than it needs to be. The Ion however has minimal wires and a small board. I feel the Ion is one of the easiest markers out there to strip and put back together.

They both have great BPS but if I had the choice it would be the Ion just because of ease of use and maintenence. Maybe I am just lazy :)

Like the others said though if you wait a little longer maybe you can save some more cash up and get something a little higher up the range ladder.

I think the Wrath is good but dog ugly.

Believe me, I'm not one to sing the praises of SP customer service and aftermarket support, but Diablo and ICD just simply cannot compete. When you factor in the aftermarket support from 3rd party developers - particularly with the wave of boards comng out - I think there's simply no choice - Ion all the way, mate

No way!! The rammer design of the wrath requires virtually NO maintinence and its design has been tried and tested to be the simplest and most reliable way of launching paintballs to 300fps.
The ION has orings that need to be greased regularly which requires complete disassembally of the gun.

OK now I am starting to worry about your sanity ;) .
I have taken apart practically every marker and the Ion is one of the worst markers to strip and maintain. In order to get to any part of it, even the bolt, you need to take the whole marker apart.

The wraith is quite modular in its design, its not the best marker to tech but its far better than the ion in that resepect.

There are far better markers available in the classifieds, but if you must buy one of those two, then the wraith is the best by far.

Features like a removable bolt, a locking feedneck and a far superior design make it head and shoulders above the ion.

ill second the ion orings issue you have to make sure they are well lubed to prevent leaks down the barrel = full dismantle

still its only 10 mins work but maybe thats more than some people want to do and worth factoring into your decision

i have no wrath experience

I'd personally forget both markers - go on the classifieds section, take advantage of bollocks dropping outta the 2nd hand market and get yourself an old DM3 - the way the market is at the moment you will probably get one for £100 ish and dm3s will tear both ion and wrath a new corn-hole - i still claim them to be the fastest gun ive ever shot

as you can see mate, everyone has their own view points and everyone will claim that one marker is better over the other.
if i were you, id go down to ur local pro shop and shoot both. you may find you love one or both or neither.

a good bit of advice that was given to me when i started playing and only wish i had it earlyier is, forget what ur shooting and worry about playing!
less on gear= more playing time.

as long as uve got an electro, ull be able to compete with almost anyone.

ps, if ur thinking of hitting big tournies which i doubt, forget everything i sed:)
