with the halos, we have had some problems with two of them. the problem turned out to be that the eyes were slightly dirty and was constantly draining the batteries. But as yours is a reloader, i guess that wont be the problem:)

Anyhow

Well I've had a good look around and totally stripped it down.

The battery pack on close inspection shows signs of being heated (glossy, uneven, bubbling finish).

There was alittle bit of dry grass on one of the bearings, but I dont think that would of created enough friction.

No pinched wires - although it looks like at some point a wire was pinched when putting the hopper back together.

The only place where the wire is being pushed hard against the shell is where the battery wire runs along side the battery pack.

I might order a replacement motor as I'm not 100% sure if its showing signs that its being run hot (not sure how much discolouring to the metal casing there should be).

I think I'll have to keep an eye on it.. cheers all.

From what you've said, you definately have some sort of jamming. The bearings are the first place to look, if paint gets into them the bearing surface gets damaged, and the bearing siezes. Get them out and push a pencil in the middle to act as an axle, then gently rotate the bearing. If they're noisy, replace them.
Another other point to look out for, when you assemble it, make sure everything goes together easily, if you have to force it something is not positioned right.

And don't trap wires.

Good luck..:)

Well for those still interested, heres the latest:

Replaced the motor/harness with a new one.

The new motor has a different colour electrical bit (I can't recall what its called)... anyway if it follows the same rules as with resistors, means that it designed to take a different voltage.

The wires for the battery harness are also much longer - so I would guess take a slightly higher sustained current.

Checked the bearings out, cleaned then, and then oiled them... no probs.

Only problem was that the top of the new motor was rubbing against the shell 'ramp', stuck a DIY plastic spacer which sorted it.
