I've had one instance when I did leave good batteries in there for around 3-4 weeks and they were pretty much flat.
I do it with all hoppers, more "best practice" than absolue necessity. Also with the HALO it's real easy as the cable can just be disconnected but you leave the batteries in it. Unlike a rev where you end up with batteries floating round your kit bag.
