what MadDog said is nearly right, to build muscle you need to eat 1.5-2 times for body weight in lbs and also eat enough quality carbs + good fat, your daily diet should add up to a 40%/40%/20% split of protein/carbs/fats. You also need to eat enough calories to fuel your body, so take your body weight in lbs and times it by 17 and that'll be a good average. its gotta be quality food though, dont eat a bigmac and think hey, i've just eat 1000 cals.

You can be in shape and drink. Look at the Army and group of fit guys whospend everyweekend killing brain cells, or the ones i've met have anyway.

but to stop drinking helps. my dad quit drinking a few months ago, he doesn't get much excersice, but within the space of a month or two he had lost several stone...
