Try to avoid distinctions of woodsball guns etc
Paintball is paintball no matter how you like to play, in the woods, in a tunnel, on perfect grass with bouncy castles etc
There is a vast array of choice in gun lookalike styles, bling, pump, magfed, mechanical, electronic etc
There is a lot to be said about being happy with your gun. Looks contribute to that, and those such as the bt delta have a basis on the tippmann 98 which is both reliable and simple.
A player can start with this, learn from it and when they move on hang onto it as the 'old reliable'
A paintball gun modeled on real gun looks is not at its optimum, the 'speedball' style gun may look a little odd and unrealistic but it's optimized. Stocks are not ideal, they just mean you need to manage where the cylinder is - either tucked under your arm or on your back on a remote line. A cylinder used instead of a stock can be rolled in your shoulder (especially if it's a fibre with a round base - but that's not the reason to spend the extra for fibre)
The best option is to look around, get hands on and see what he likes the feel of
This keeps money in your pocket and he can still play with you as a rental even at walkons for no more than £5 extra.
