Paint won't stay on well either unless you seal it. Paintball fills tend to react with and soften most paints causing them to peel off, and it will also chip off if knocked during use. The most durable are firearm paints like duracoat or krylon, but application isn't straight forward and needs baking on.

Or just lacquer it to hell, that should stop any damage from paintballs...
