Much as I would love Nexus to be part of such a show either I go as a complete team or not at all.
But to choose it over Miami is not gonna happen because I think the success of the Gravity Paintball Cup as they might call it is not contingent upon Nexus's particpation.
Whichever teams contest it will do a great job in promoting Paintball and I am pretty sure the rest of us will have a great opportunity to share in that success at some time afterwards.

Nexus are spread pretty thin at the moment when it comes to resources and time off work because of our training and tournament schedule but I am pretty sure as next year unfolds, we will be able to take advantage of any further oportunites coming up on the NPPL bandwagon.

Soul, believe me I would love to get Nexus out to this because I know how big the NBC Gravity Games are in the US (800,000 people go thru it and it's televised nationwide) but it was too short notice and would have caused too many problems.

6 teams will have the right to battle in a one day event that will air in the september airing of the gravity games on all major networks. apparently there will be a 40k buy in per team and only 6 will be allowed.
....
also i have a question for tyger about his views now on this matter for you have been the cheif antogonist on televised paintball in the debate that we are too immature to handle this so soon?
I don't, but that's more a question of teh 6 teams getting SOME kind of a media coach at that point. (IE : The word "yeah" is not what a talking head is looking for when they ask you if the plan you had before the game worked.) Paintball needs to grow up and wake up before they're ready for TV. But we've been over that.

We are immature, don't kid yourself. If anyone wants to fork over the $40K to get into it, go for it. But as I look at it, ther's no meniton of it on hte GG website, or even in their search area there. So for now, it's a moot point until it becomes official.

Plus, if you look at the "Qualifications", you don't buy into the GG, you have to earn your slot. The money is coming form sponsorships and ticket sales ($40 for a 5 day pass) So until I see otherwise, it's rumormill.

EDIT ADD : Just looking at the GG site, they do "Gravity" games, meaning "Airtime", meaning stuff where gravity is a part of the sport. Skateboard vert, dirt-bike jumps, motocross jumps, and so on. I don't think paintball meets the qualification as a "GRAVITY" induced game... Unless we can get trampolines and make a paintball version of "Slamball"....

I hate to belabor the obvious--well, okay, I don't:rolleyes: but I think you'll find, on further consideration, gravity has an impact on every sport known to man in one way or another. :D

Well duh.

I meant in the aspect of "defying" gravity, specificly to Vert skating or BMX jumping, or the sport utilising gravity as in street luge.

Paintball really does neither. It doesn't fit the "mold" of a "gravity game" any more than baseball does. I should really drink more caffinated bevridges before I start posting stuff.
