well here is a great announcement that i was shocked not to read on the p8ntballer 24hr news section... paintball is now in the gravity games. that is right my fellow paintball fanatics... paintball has now broke into the gravity games and we are on the verge of pure greatness. 6 teams will have the right to battle in a one day event that will air in the september airing of the gravity games on all major networks. apparently there will be a 40k buy in per team and only 6 will be allowed. the true question falls squarely on the shoulders of the nxl (or rather the plp) teams shoulders of who gets to play? will richmond hold to the letter of the nxl stance against no outside tournies and allow this sweet gem of an opporuntiy to slip away? will nexus and other teams get an opportunity and this is a great chance for rights to the 9 and 10 plp team slots for these will be highly recognized teams if all goes well.

also i have a question for tyger about his views now on this matter for you have been the cheif antogonist on televised paintball in the debate that we are too immature to handle this so soon?

how do you like them apples...

Well, I only got to hear about it on Friday and immediately put Nexus down for a slot.
A couple of problems though, firstly the entry fee was $40,000, yeah you got it, that's $40,000 and it was to be held at the same time as Campaign Cup.
I think we woulda been ok with the money and the time slot and
I reserved a place but unfortunately couldn't come up with enough players who could get the time off, over half of us had just blown all our holiday entitlement and if we had went we woulda had to say 'no' to Miami and that weren't going to happen.
So, it remains to be seen just who's gonna go to it.
Should be fun !!!

I'll call Owen to get a press release put together and post it up here as soon as I get it.
Things are moving sooo damn fast at the moment in Paintball with regard to TV, it's hard to keep up with developments but I have to say, it's looking good for paintball no matter which side of the Paintball divide you care to cast your gaze.

robbo and nexus not going?

i realize that having player problems and time off is such a huge factor but think of the magnitude of the opportunity before you (which is not available to people like me at this present time). This will in theory be the biggest venue that paintball will have to showcase the sweetness of our game to the world. i realize that the game has been on espn and that it was not highly recieved (heck i even remember seeing them interview you when you played for the team shades of gray if my memory serves me right). This is a great opportunity to have high exposure to outside sponsors and seeing if paintball wil create a stirr outside the general paintball public. imagine the exposure that this will provide for your team as well as others that have the chance to get into the limited available spots.

robbo i wish that i was in your place to have the ability to play at that venue and to be part of a very historic event and i find it hard to believe that you are chosing to pass on it. i would even be putting in a make shift squad just so that i would have the chance to play. that may sound rash but to miss out on that golden chance would be too much for this crazy canuck to handle. my eblade would be a bunkering nightmare to those that would get in my way.

Its not that they have chose not to go, they are unable to. The Nexus lads all have jobs and their holiday entitlements are tied up now, booking the remainder for Miami from what I can gather. They are playing Miami over the gravity games tourney because they have played the whole series to date.

A scratch side would not be of the same standard of Nexus and therefore no point making. As you said yourself, it will be for premier teams.

i agree but to have the chance to play is all that i am talking about. this is an opportunity to make some headwaves and bring paintball to the masses. who would not want to be a part of that. i also fully understand the situation that robbo and the nexus boys are in and it is a true shame that they have to miss out. who is this canuck going to root for now!

If nexus cant make it then so be it, id rather have them not go than risk losing their jobs over a tourney no matter how big it is.
