Got my Ion today....

As MrPink said, try reading the home office definitions! And as I mentioned before..a turbo (assisted fire) board was inspected by the home office and was considered ok to be used under their laws.
Its not the home office definitions we will fall foul of. Unless of course Hatts has stirred a hornets nest, but he aint saying either way...

All laws are interpreted by the police officer who enforces them.
You try and tell your local bobby that walking the trigger at 17 bps is controlled single shots (ie semi auto) and he would have your ass.

Turbo was allowed (under UKPS rules, never heard of the supposed inspection by the HO) because the gun shot less than two shots per trigger pull. The definition of fully auto was 2 or more shots per trigger pull.

Anyway turbo boards were pulled by the UKPSF because they were worried about getting our sport banned.

Companies selling gats with assisted modes (well more free shots than turbo mode) before they are allowed are being incredibly irresponsible and endangering any efforts intended to change the firearms laws in our favour.

Ah, don't get me wrong...i'm not saying it couldn't happen. The points i'm making is to open people's minds a little more than slapping hands over mouths and saying:

"A board capable of full auto?....go directly to jail, do not pass go"

My ION has been set for semi-auto only and it'll never be reprogrammed by me unless the PA rule change is passed (by both the PA and the Home Office). I don't agree with ramping, turbo, assisted fire or full auto modes of fire.....but they exist and a lot of people are supporters of them.

JohnC...does this mean that the UK companies currently selling US boarded markers should be making a recall, or supplying new boards? (this is meant as a real question...shouldn't be misconstrued as an arsey riposte.. :p)

"Pandora's Box" you got it in two words beaker !
I am a resonsible citizen, my wife even works for the prison service, but a laugh can so easily turn sour, that's before you get some low life screwing about with a marker for fun !
I personally believe that UK companies should recall markers and they should not sell boards either, if an individual choses to import a fully auto weapon, then that's bad of the individual but for for a low life to be able to walk into a UK store and walk out with an "illegal Weapon"
C'mon who fell out of the stupid tree this morning ?

Indeed they should recall the guns and fit the replacement boards. As you mentioned the grey areas those are the worst things to have as that way they can swing it whatever way the want illigal/not

As for full auto on a a paintball marker it is illigal no matter what way you look at it.

Forgive me for asking, but can you go to full auto without removing the grips. What do you need to do to go full auto.?

Wow! i've really opened a can of worms with this thread! :p

I think that smart parts should replace the boards for all of the US spec'ed Ions sent in the first batch to europe. I might just get in touch with SP europe tomorrow to find out exactly what can be done.

On another note, will Planet eclipse be offering board upgrades for the Egos as they have a fault in the programming on that allows full auto too. I found the settings on my Ego and they really are not far removed from the stock ones......:(

An Ego full-auto doing 30bps is actually quite a scary thought, sight and sound!

,

at some point this law will be tested, and i fear sooner rather than later,it's up to all of us to reduce the chances of it happening {no full auto ,ramping} or see our sport outlawed

And this kind of comes full circle and explains why I rant about the "grey legality"......

...how can SP or Planet do a recall (I mean where is their incentive to put themselves to the financial sacrifice) when it's perfectly legal to buy a ramping board in the UK which allows burst firing....(see banner at top..sometimes!)
