Right ive just got my Empire Event googles and am now looking for a marker, been doing abit of research and went to a speedball tournament last sunday to get abit of advice on what marker to start off with. Im torn between getting a brand new Proto SLG for £120 or looking for something second hand in the same reigon (prob £160 max). Could anyone give me some advice what to start off with, i dont want to be total wiped out of my first match because i had a naff gun :D

Many thanks!

Stretch to £200 and you could get an Ego 06. :)

Whilst there is a difference between markers you aren't going to get wiped out in your first game because you don't have this years latest uber marker :) If you can try some markers out first then do that and see what you feel comfortable with. I started off with a Piranha R6 Eforce, (woodsball,) then my first tournament type marker.....an Ion, then moved to a PM7, borrowed an Angel A1 then bought myself an Ego 06. An Ego was always my end aim marker but thats just me. Different people like different markers, so try to try some out and see what you want, as most people are biased towards one marker or other and will try to steer you in that direction.

Thanks for the advice guys :)

Yeah im thinking of stretching to £200 for a Ego 06 i have seen in the for sale section, if i sell my mountain bike then ill prob go for that one. Also saw a PM7 go for sale in the week but just havnt had the funds ready to go untill pay day on the 28th, just i want to get into asap! :D

When me and my mate went to a tournament last sunday, they was shooting on this little block thing to measure speed i think it was and one guy was "hot" and was not alowed to use his gun in the match, are some of the low end guns programable with the speeds and ball rate at which they fire? Sorry to sound such a n00b :D

HOT refers to the velocity the ball is fired at (measured in feet per sec) - usually the limit is either 280 or 300fps. ALL guns can be adjusted for velocity.
Rate of fire (ROF) is measured in balls per sec (BPS). Most guns can be adjuested in this respect.

BTW - I'd heartily reccomend second hand for your marker, you'll get MUCH better markers for your £. An Etek or Ego 5 would be an excellent choice.

Welcome to a new and wonderful world of shiny kit, gizmos and bruises:)

All in the name of fun..quality:)

Somwhere on here is a DMC (?) that is in spanking condition for 150 quid.

You cant go wrongg with an eclipse marker Egos,Eteks or E blades all shoot lovely. The E blades are a top drawer markers but are a bit more complex in their set up. I just bought an ETEK2 (essentially an EGo 8 with a different board and without the gucci upgrades) for just over 200 quid. Shoots like a dream and easy to maintain.

As someone said already, you'd have to have more money than sense to buy a brand new marker at the moment. The used market is very much a buyers market right now.

Good luck with your ballin mate, you'l have a blast.

so much selection

first buying new not so good you say you have looked at a photo slg £120 new i just bought the pmr09 last month new £299 bet it lost £50 already.
if you look around the sale section you will find guns that arnt even 6 months old that will fit your buget and they still got 6 months warrantee.next you got to make up your mind on what you are going to play woods/speedball this will decide your gun.woods tend to go for the tippmanns and bts while speed ball is egos photos dms ect .ask if they are lubed and checked between walk ons or tourni's answer must be yes

happy balling

Indeed, however i would disagree with your point about selecting a marker. Could you explain this?

Your better off getting a marker that can be used in both formats if your a new player with a limited budget surely?

RobsonGTO:
If your a new player and are perhaps not entirely sure where your fancy lies in terms of format,or,heavens to mercatroid you might decide to play BOTH speedball and woodland:eek:: just enjoy the experience and have fun man. It'l become apparent in time if you prefer one format or the other,or as i said you may have no preference.

If you only have a limited budget it will pay dividends to spend a little time shopping around and trying things out. I'm sure if you ask at your local site the own gunners would be only too happy to let you try their markers out so you can get a feel for em. The amount of markers up for sale here you will always have a few bargains to be had mate. No fear.

Its a device which throws paintballs at your target. Its application is not format specific.Although i havent seen many tippys on the speedball field in fairness..lol

I play in the woods along with many other players and we all run Egos,Eteks,Shockers,Cockers,Mini's,Marqs whatever etc etc. Its just what feels right versus your budget.

Enjoy your weekend:)

Later:)
