there's exceptions to the rule, but;
BC shoot spyders because they are paid mega $$$$
Tippman Effect are probably also heavly sponsored to shoot Tippmans, and Renick has probably traded in his spyder by now.

It might not be right, but if i see a load of guys wandering around with crap guns, i generally think they're not very good players. They may turn out to be the Muts Nutz, but i probably wouldn't think that much of them if i'd never seen them play.

It's this little human personality quirk called predjudice, and unfortunatly i would be predjudice in this case against players with rec-level guns.

i think that anyone who is seriousley far enough into paintball in order to train enough to be good would invest in either a good marker or get some sponsorship.

a marker WILL affect your performance. it doesn't actually help bad paople play better, they just unlock the potential of good players.

i, like most others do judge people by their marker+other gear untill they play, but i wouldn't walk up to them and takr the piss out of them for it.

I love my trusty old inferno but I think i'll be leaving it at home for the millenium events somehow!!!!

Unless I can throw that little switch inside the grip frame.......;)

inferno
halo loader
dye ? jt protus mask
then what would you think...
I would think, why didn't they spend the extra cash that they forked out on cool cloths and kit on a serious marker.
£50 proteus mask
£90 halo
£50 dye trousers
£200 inferno.

= they could have bought a 2003 cocker, for the same money.

I would think that they don't know too much about competitive paintball, and i would probably not respect them much as a player.
Again it's how i would honestly react; it may not be right but it is he truth.

It's like saying some guy shows up to race you in your ferarri in his ford fiesta, and expects you to respect him. Not going to happen.

To be honest with you...

Anyone who will show up to a tournament with an "inferior" gun is someone I want to watch. Odds are they're fearless and more likely than not they're willing to let it all hang out and see who salutes.

Either that or theyr'e new, have a fresh perspective on things, and look at the event as somthign to learn from. Either way, I'd like to see what they got.

Then agian, I play tournaments wiht a pump gun. Man, I've NEVER heard someone complain as much as the guy I bunkered did... Nonstop screaming all the way to the deadbox at the ref that I must have cheated to shoot him with my pump....

I guess the thing is that a guy with a sub-standard gun as it were may shoot that out of choice.

Whats worse, a guy with a spangly gun he actually can't shoot but thinks looks good, or a guy with an old weapon he knows backwards and can really make it sing??

I know which player I would fear the most. Maybe not an inferno user but someone with an antique old cocker or mag may be more dangerous than he appears.

In our first tourney we met a team that looked the nuts, matching tops, masks, custom cannons, the lot. We blew hell out of them in about 90 seconds. Five games later a scratch team of old timers with cobbled together bits of history blew us clean out of the ring.

Very embarrasing  ;)
