camping roll mat, cheap as chips! the stuff in hobbytheft is "funky foam" 3mm thick, way to weak and thin for what you want ;)[/quote)

You're right about hobby craft that's an hour wasted, as for camping roll mats i'd already thought of them and looked at some, they aren't as stiff a foam as i seem to remember, currently looking at exercise mats but most of what i can find is too thick for what i want.

they range from around 8mm to 14mm and are all of different densities, worth keeping an eye out

I was thinking the stuff used in bicycle helmets... where it is hardened. Maybe put some lycra over it (I know you have loads of that stuff BOD ;)) to protect it a bit..

You can also sell replacement bits, if you make them 'bolt on-able' - for cheap. so if they break or wear away they can be replaced... and make you a bit more..

I can only assume the stuff in bicycle helmets is the same as in motorcycle helmets in which case it's ok until you break the surface then it's just like any packing polystyrene. And now i'm getting a bit nostalgic, i think a bit of x ray specs is in order.
Any way problem is now solved, lonsdale exercise mat will do, not quite as stiff as the foam i've got but will suffice, half price at sports direct who really need to get a bigger store or sell less stuff, even victoria beckham wouldn't be able to walk between the product racks without knocking half the stuff on to the floor.
