i use a deadlywid hollowpoint bolt, i get 1700 shots per 4500psi 1.1, have the pressure at 135 psi and dwell is 25.

thats good! So much for Ions being gas hogs... all it takes is the right upgrades!

you have to tune it right, took me a couple hours of trial an error to get that. There are a lot of things to consider when dealing with tuning any gun up to the max. Im not sure what efficeincy you would get from a 3000 psi tank, but a rough guess would be 1000-1200 shots, or 7-8 pods

right i had my ion out and 2000psi in my tank it managed about 3 pods, should it do more? and whats the operating pressure

How big is the tank, less than 1.1L?
.72L or less and 4 pods and a hopper running low pressure I think would be the norm with 2000psi left....

Going by that I estmate around 6-7 pods plus maybe a hopper.
Now I'm no Ion user so you will have to fill me in on the details, but I use a Trix, which are renound gas hogs. I'm running a 3000psi .60L tank and can get a round 3 pods and a hopper, but if I turn the dwell up to high the bolt will let more air out for longer wasting air and getting around just a hopper.

Can Ions have the bolt time altered?

you should get more than 3 pods.....my memory says around 400-500 balls for that

3 pots is about 420 balls, so if he should be getting 400-500 then..... well, im sure you can work the rest out

which is why it says with the hopper, he'd not be to far off.......
