There were alot of problems with the ramping on the g7's at PA, resulting in alot of people being penalty pointed for having illegal guns. Dont think WDP (or LPS ?) had any resolution for it on the day.

There was?? I used a G7 all day on ramping mode without a single issue. What were people being penalty pointed for? Were they definately using mode 3?

I heard this also...

When I asked LiPS, they didn't have a clue what I was talking about.

As far as I am aware, there is no millennium mode, just xball 2005 mode (same as PA rules) which is mode 3.
Mode 3 is not ramp! mode 3 is 3 shot burst. One of our guys got pulled for this at round 2 of P.A.
Mode 5 is ramp (or accumalator mode).
From the manual
"Mode 3- This is a 3 shot bursts mode with the first 3 shot been fired in semi automatic only, on the 4th shot a maximum of 3 shots will be added per trigger pull.
This mode is limited to a MROF of 15 balls per second when in semi or adding
shots in.

Mode 5- This is a BPS enhancer that will fire more balls than trigger pulls.
This mode is limited to a MROF of 15 balls per second.
Hope that helps!

Tony, forgive my ignorance, but how is that not PA legal? My understanding of the rule is that the first 3 shots have to be semi, then as long as it doesn't go above 15BPS in rate it's OK.

What am I missing?

Here is the PA wording on the rule...

"PA WORDING

Rates of fire:

The first three shots of any firing sequence must be in semi-automatic mode only, defined as a one complete cycle of the trigger firing one paintball.
The first three shots of any new sequence are not subject to rate of fire capping.
Following the first three cycles of the trigger operated with a maximum of 200 milliseconds between each then assisted modes of fire controlled by the paintball marker and as supplied by paintball equipment manufacturers are permitted under the following rules.
No marker may fire two consecutive shots with less than 65 milliseconds between each shot giving an effective maximum attainable rate of fire of 15.4 shots per second.
The trigger must continue to be operated with a maximum of 200 milliseconds between each complete cycle requiring an effective minimum rate of 5 trigger activations per second in order to sustain an assisted mode of fire once it has been activated.
In the event that the trigger is not activated for a period of 1 second or longer the firing sequence will be deemed to have ended and any assisted mode in operation will cease."

The crux!

This is where 3 shot burst fails:
The trigger must continue to be operated with a maximum of 200 milliseconds between each complete cycle requiring an effective minimum rate of 5 trigger activations per second in order to sustain an assisted mode of fire once it has been activated.
After the first 3 you will get 4 per trigger pull, as long as you maintain 4/sec.
Also you will get a further 3 shots after the last trigger pull, mistaken (in our players gun) for bounce!
Ramping, is just that, a gradual ramp/increase in cycles per trigger pull.
Cos if mode 3 is ok, then mode 4 would be better still, thats an 8 shot burst!
