IMO threads like this suck. Just because someone can't be bothered to look around and see for themselves what kind of prices guns are going for, someone helps them out by posting up what they reckon the current market average is. But by "helping" that one guy out, you've just put a limit on what every G7 owner can ask for their gun should they want to sell - whatever condition it's in.

Everyone complains that the second hand market is really bad, right up until they're the one doing the buying - then they'll be happy to offer £300 for a gun someone shelled out £800 for a few weeks before. With the cleat on the other foot you'd be spitting feathers.

If you've got money to spend, look around and put some offers in. Posts like these really screw with the classifieds because now tightasses who were willing to spend more on a marker can now quote from here and offer less.

And if you're putting figures in that people are going to quote, why do you need to add your opinions too? So what if the G7 has a menu system? In your opinion it's not worth it, but why do we need to know that? You're putting people off buying G7's in favour of the Speed for no reason.

And before you ask, I'm not an Angel owner and haven't been for a long time.

So freedom of speech goes out the window?

People ask what things are worth, why can't more experienced ballers quote some examples of recent prices?

Each marker has its own merits. take an Angel 05 Speed for instance.

Average price £300ish.

Could be a battered up, Angel, abused, never serviced and generally tatty, sells for £225

Or

Could be a mint Angel with tons of upgrades owned by a guy who goes to bed with his gat and has a custom anno, regularly serviced and sells for £400

Sell your marker for whatever you want. Don't want to sell it for a lower price, don't sell it.

Would sponsors be that bothered that one person in the team isn't using a team gun?

what sort of sponsorship deal is it that insists the whole team buys a new gat.

We have all used the "selling due to sponsorship line" most of the time we just fancy a change but don't want to sound lame.

Supply and demand is what drives prices down. You want to sell something which isn't this years "must have" bend over and take it or keep it. You want to sell something that everyone wants you will get a good price, sell something that few people want, lower the price or nobody buys it.

I bought 2 karnivores recently, not a lot of people want them, I bought the 1st one cheap, there was more interest by the time I bought the 2nd and it cost me £50 more. Thats life.

That's my point. After the price quotes people put up - instead of the person with the money actually looking around for themselves - you put the wide range of guns of that type into one price bracket and you just can't sell your marker for what you want.

Of course freedom of speech isn't out of the window, I'm sure that's just an exaggeration. Say what you want and there will be someone listening to you. The newbies who put posts up asking for how much a gun is "worth" will pay attention to what is said by more experienced people on this forum - which reinforces my point about posting individual opinions on this type of thread too.

Supply and demand, yes, but if someone had their G7 on the forum yesterday for £450 and BuyerX was interested in it, today (because of this post) BuyerX would now only be willing to pay £350-£400... and they could quote this thread saying that "more-experienced people say they're only worth this much, so I'm not going to give you what you want for it."

This isn't a classified forum at the moment, it's a car boot sale without the car boots.

And I'm not sure where you're going with the sponsorship comments, because I didn't mention anything about that.

Firstly these comments are general comments, they are not raised at you, I do not even know who you are? They are addressing the points you make and connected issues.

The sponsorship comment is a reference to something you see a lot in the classifieds. It is there because you don't "have" to sell your marker its your choice.

If I had a G7 and someone offered me £350 for it I would tell them to p#ss off. Just because a div 3 team may be getting "sponsorship" it doesn't mean every member of the team must run out and sell their marker or not be able to play. So no one is making anyone sell anything.

This links in with teams selling sponsored gats at cheaper prices than Joe Blogs who paid full retail. Life sucks sometime. Practice, get better, get discounted equipment and sell it when they send some more.

Back to supply and demand , this illustrates it perfectly. If snotty low balls everyone, he keeps getting knocked back. If he cannot fill his demand at a set price he must increase that price until there is a supply to meet his needs.

Good point.

I am really experienced and I write for PGI, so I want to make it clear that Angel G7s are worth one of your English pounds and no more.

Right, I'm off to classifieds to make a killing...

The real problem is that a lot of people are spineless. Someone tells them that their guns are worth less, they drop the price because it didn't sell as quickly as "Buy It Now".

If you want to influence the price you get for something used, you have to play up its strong points, be patient, and stick to your... um... guns.
