Everytime someone asks about Full-Auto for Paintball gats, the standard reply is: 'No as this makes them into Section 5 Firearms'

However, this quote courtesy of Jose on another thread, seem to indicate otherwise:

Paintball guns are a form of air weapon. It is arguable that they are prohibited weapons under section 5 of the 1968 Act. However, the Home Office regard self-loading or pump action rifled airguns (including paintball guns) as outside the scope of section 5, unless they are sufficiently powerful to fall within the category of a "specially dangerous" air weapon (Archbold, 24.8a
If we stick to Paintballs, not the rubber training rounds, then surely we fall under the same juristication as Airsoft?

This means we could have Full-Auto @ tourneys and do away with all this Trigger bounce Farce.

Just food for thought:)

Nope...Airsoft weapons produce muzzle energies measured in Joules...They produce muzzle energies of less than 1 foot pound which means they are classed as toys, which is something else people can rib them about if they so desire!
They are not powerfull enough to penetrate skin...

As I understand it, the UKPSF and HO have agreed not to allow full-auto markers in the UK in order to avoid legal wrangles. The HO don't discriminate between a semi that fires once per second or 19 times a second (at the moment), but are very keen to control anything that fires more than once for one pull of the trigger. It isn't worth dicking around with the lawmakers, as they could decide semi-auto markers are too fast anyway and then we'd all be screwed. All it takes is for the question to be asked in court and it can set a precedent which then stands as law. So we might be better to let sleeping dogs lie, as at the moment paintballers in the Uk enjoy more freedom than any other sport using "guns".
