could be one of three things........... but I aint naming any of them. GO TO THE DOCTOR....... best case scenario it's just something you need to rest for a couple of weeks..... if it's that then ignoring it will do you absolutely no good. Go see the doc, he won't need to stick needles in it to tell you what's up. Oh, and don't hit it :)

My sister just had some lumps removed from her hand - on the back of her hand, the "ankle" (you know, the knobbly bit) of her hand, and on her knuckles... turns out she was a witch.

Actually, it turned out they were benign tumours... bleurgh!!

Get to the doctor quick!! I've never heard of RSI like you described..

RSI is actually Repetitive Strain Injury, and yes has been experienced!! depends on the lump, fluid or firm (yes I realise the implications of my choice of words)

I too have problems, although I have arthritis so know why I struggle with pain and have had 5 years of trial an error of how to deal with it, an added advantage being that daddy's a doctor and I studied in a similar area.

I would advise you see a doctor; it could well be a cyst or a build of lactic acid on the bone, I often experience build up's on and between the Meta carpals. Are you experiencing headaches??

Just like reflexology you have similar pressure points on your hands that can be an indication of a problem elsewhere.

There are many different methods to combat this, I have recently witnessed one amazing women using heat and energy on two of my team members. Liz is the person to talk to if you get the chance to see her she's fantastic.

United States......BITCHES!
Dad had something close...it ended up being some problem where plaque had built up inbetween the tendons, and had really fcucked his whole elbow up. Uh...what can i Say? Put ice on it? Definately agree with Bolter, I've had kneecap tendonitis, and your symptoms sound close. If parts of your hand start falling off, thats a sign to get your ass to the doctor. Either that, or....end up with one of these....

Stop fcuking around with it, go see someone who knows about it :D

far from being a doctor (im a chef) i do how ever know a little about dodgy joints and lumps etc due having a mother who is crippled with arthritis and such things, she has a couple of lumps and knobbles on both her hands and legs, which he gets treated regularly........she is VERY subbern and it took us 3 years to get her to a doctor and even then she was in a diabetic coma so she had no choice (sounds bad but my mum is a very ill lady somedays).
this lump on your hand sounds like something she has had removed.....called a 'ganglian' (bad spelling me thinks). the old wives remedy was to twat it with the family bible belive it or not!!!! this is VERY dangerous and can lead to blood poisoning.
first port of call should be nhs direct who will more than likely point you to a gp or a nurse who will prod it and then send you to see a consultant at a hospital who will do a few tests and may be able to fix it no intrusivly....if not it may need a small local aneastetic and 5 minutes with a scapel..........but
IF YOU LEAVE IT IT WILL GET WORSE, like my mums did. please get it looked at

ok folks went to the ostoepath today (a dr of the sceletal system) who had a look at me hand, after going urghh at it she then grabbed it and popped a small bone back into place which i think she said was a "trapezoid" then after a small amount of grinding it kinda stayed there, i got to go back again, this can occur when your hand bends back over, ie pushing open heavy doors, and is aggravated by movement of the wrist ie firing my angel at tourneys ! looks like a cp rail and a .8 bottle will be in order, my hand is really killing me at the mo but should get better i hope
