freak question.... difference beetween aa front or freak front(performance???)

at smartparts.com you can get a all-american with a freak front or a all-american front, and they are the same price so i dont think theres a difference

Ah, you're talking about a slightly different barrel there. There is the Freak barrel that we all know & love which is a 3-piece with front, back & insert, then there's the All American barrel which is a 2-piece just back & front.
Either of these barrels can take the same fronts which come in 2 styles, also called AA & Freak which can be quite confusing. The difference between the 2 styles of front is just that the porting on the AA is plain & the porting on the Freak is teardrop.

AA versus teardrop

We have noticed a difference in the two fronts, with the AA shooting staighter, on two different markers. On closer inspection the front is 0.002" more concentric to the front than the teardrop. This could be down to a bad batch, but the AA fronts we have shoot better than the teardrops we have.
