Personally I go for a pair of Magnums, however I play in the woods in Scotland and with the amount of rain, cleats aren't really much of an option!

I either wear nike football boots with rugby studs for firmish ground, or if it's really muddy or in the woods then just an old pair of boots do the trick!

I had my first walk on last month. I used some cheap boots with ankle support. It was perfect for running in the woods. Held up well fir 15quid cannot complain.

Depends on your style of play and the surface you are playing on

Cleats are designed for paintball, and like football boots are ideal for grip - but for the right surface
Some cleat/tread designs are 'meant' to be better for certain circumstances such as gripping for sudden changes of direction
The wrong footwear that gives perfect grip for you to turn mid sprint could damage your ankle when doing so if the support is not there
I have used paintball cleats (and still have them) but I'm not inclined to sprint and they give me no grip on bridges, steps concrete etc

My best gripping boots are thin rubber soled old school jungle boots. Ideal for the shopping centre game that turned the floor into an ice rink. However I can feel everything on the ground so one stone

If the ground is variable then I recommend combat boots

I bought myself some Hi-Gear water proof hiking boots. You can wear them in any weather conditions and they will not get wet etc. and them being hiking boots they are super comfortable to walk in all day.
