the man raises a valid point, i believe the reg does have to be unscrewed from the bottle so that they can check inside it.

1. Take the reg off your bottle so they can check inside and make sure that there is nothing in it.

2. Tell the person at the check in desk you are carrying paintball sporting equipment.

3. Enjoy the flight.

Problem you have andy is the fact that all ur lads have milsim markers which isnt cool in an airport. Call up the airway and ask them...

You may get away with doing nothing, but if i was flying with paintball gear, as i have. I would unscrew the reg so the bottle is free, and pack your gear. If they ask what the items are, tell them.

OK, I work as an airline pilot and this is the best way to do it:

-Empty the bottle
-Say nothing to the check in personell (it is totally legal to travel with paintball equipment so you don´t have to tell them).
-If you fly Ryan air, ship your equipment cus they have different policies than everybody else.

This is how I do it and I know the rules cus I work with it.

good luck/agge

I flew gatwick to aberdeen over summer with a full setup (inc paint).

I had to check it with security over the phone and it was marker on the BA system that i had a sports firearm in my hold bag.

That was it, no extra check and i didn't need to unscrew the reg. i did take batteries out of my marker as good practice. BTW you can carry paint in you hand lugague as its a munition :(

Also mentioned above is the hold of a plane pressurised (i say yes, mate say no, ensuing argument with no conclusion, anyone help?)

Edit: your also not allowed the tank to be pressurised. The words explosive decompresion are never good when a plane is involved. I don't think its anything t do with the change in pressure, its if the valve gets knocked off and firing the tank through the side of the plane.
