i like option 1 best.

Players are live and can shoot from game on!
I think having barrels touching the start gate is the fairest way of doing it!

I'm with the consensus that Takedown's Option 1 is the best.

For me, it not only prevents any instances of players shooting too early but it also makes it easier for teams to load a side as tryng to get 5 players out same side of the start gate on some fields is nearly impossible. Option 1 allows players to just run where they like.

Plus that little delay of 1 or 2 secs before guns are spun round and laning gives the front guys that little extra help which makes for more interesting games IMHO.

So yeah - Option 1 - start gate on the boundary, 7 ft wide (1ft per player?), barrels touching, do what you like other than that :)

Boundaries - I think boundaries should be kept as they are, but mandatory football grade chalk lines would help.

I agree, best solution is number 1, and the Boundaries should be kept as they are as Beaker said.

less refering problems, trying to look if all the players has exited the flag station before shooting, the marshalls must focus on looking hits in the sweetspotting, and in the front players runs, before spending time discerning if all the players have steped into the field before shooting...

the boundary lines must be as now, of course, the best would be marking them more clearly, but is another fact of the game, if you go out of the field, you are out !,
