Fix a price!!!!!

Look guys/girls - this is my quick 2 minute rant - cos i feel that i just have to have my say about the complaints i hear on the classified forum...

Its mainly about people complaining about offers on items they are selling (with no price on the thread) which gets a low balled and/or even bordering on pathetic and p**s taking offer...

"Im selling this yadda yadda yadda, as new - Offers?"

or "whats it worth"

there is nothing worse than selling something and someone offering you peanuts is there....

but you know the best way to stop this happening?...... right......

FIX A PRICE!

Why dont you take a couple of minutes out to have a look through this and other forums and get an idea of the price other items similar to yours are selling for, and put your expected price on the thread??

whats the secret? I thought you wanted to sell the fricking thing - dont you? or am i missing a point here?

Tbh, i don't offer anyone who hasnt fixed a price now 'cos im scared of offering them the wrong price! (i mean im old enough and i dont even know the expected price of most things - i aint a mind reader) and i also find having to PM someone just to get a price bloody annoying and typically by the time they respond, the items gone anyway!!

Lets face it - its not Ebay and you dont bid blind so why try it here? So for those that dont put a price on your threads, dont complain when some 12 year old who hasnt got a pot to p**s in offers you 100 quid for your DM5 / Ego or whatever it may be

Personally, i find the classified brilliant, i have bought and sold many items on there, even this week Ive just sold an unused sweet Marker to a chap called Martin - i had the price on my thread - he pmd me, i gave him my mobile, we munched over the price a little and business was done - simple - Ive also bought a gun this week from a guy called Andy in exactly the same way - i have no complaints what so ever and im sure they havent. I will be buying another marker this week and im sure this will go in the same way...

I also note that items with a price normally sell a lot quicker anyway!! If someone wants that item, they will buy it.

Rant over - i might upset some people (frankly thats not a change for me ) and some may say im being silly, but i might just wang a few stupid offers in to those that feel their secret price cannot be revealed!

Let the moaning commence...

i agree with you, it's annoying not knowing how much someone wants for something they are selling. people that start those sort of threads must know the only reply they're gonna get is 'how much you looking for' or 'i'll give you 50p and a bag of chips for it'

agreed, i mean i love the classifieds, but it does get tedious the constant PMing and complications, whereas you can jus say ill take this... if there is a fixed price

hear hear and another thing what pisses me off is people who pm saying YEAH ILL HAVE IT FOR X AMOUNT then never pm you their address or get back to you again OR they say IS YOUR GEAR IN GOOD NICK!!!!

Whats all this auctioning lark about??? - from what i've seen of people "auctioning" items on forums, ive seen people extending the deadline date to get more bids (not great if you were the highedt bidder at the time") and 1 auction was running on 3 forum boards simultaneously, and he didnt honour any of them!!

Again, just sell it at a price - Why ask people to "bid" when someone will only pay what its worth unless they are really stupid...

Also, if you expect someone to spend 500 quid on your gun, I don't think its too much to expect for you to take a few minutes to learn how to post a frickin' picture. Its not that difficult.

and another really anoying thing is when people post complete random crap on your classified thread especially about the price even more anoying when they aint even interested in buying it themselves!!!!

if you wanna bitch about the state of the second hand marker market chat about it on a thread like this not on someones sale thread or even better still use the pm button.

on the subject of auctions i personal think its a good way of getting shot of something you dont need anymore as long as you are willing not to make a huge pile of cash!! and as long as you stick to your own cut off point and honour the the highest bidder.

and the subject of setting a price well you all know that wont work unless you set it a price so fricking cheap an unemployed 5 year old can afford it!! you will allways get people complaining about the price and low balling you.

Indeed, however thats the problem - People should not have a price in mind AND have and stick to a cut off point - most of the auctions i have seen on here dont seem to have a cut off, they extend it till the feel they have got the price they want! - wouldnt it have been easier just to put a bloody price on it?

As far as the posting on threads with mindless jibberish about the poor state of the marker market - point taken, altho it must be a bad habit i picked up bumping my own sales threads up - oooppps - ill get mi coat....
