Right...

Winner take all works fine.

But when you're giving out series points based on finish, the elimination finals format doesn't work. My point is that "elimination finals" is a band-aid (worthless) solution to the real problem: Having 100+ teams competing in a 3-day event to begin with. Until you're willing to change THAT, band-aid solutions like single elimination finals are a waste of time.

europe is unlike america, we are unable to take a week off workor study to play. people that play the US world cup have to take much time off and i guess it is pretty easy for some but in europe people are less willing to take that much time so that a tournament that has previously had 100 teams playing all the rounds in 3 days going to the same in 4 or 5 days is against what has easly been done before.

there are a couple of ways that the final/semi could be run, refering to the 3 day Mil series. the first 2 days are prelims for teams, this could be made simpler by continuing the current system of the event orgainsers 'seed'. (but this is not true seeding - they probably do not look at detail all the teams, their histories, current perofrmance, etc to decide, they probably guess from what they know to give a rough guide for each group, they then group them up to give the prelim groups) if they just number all the pros 1-x, all the Am-a/b 1-x and all the novs 1-x (x being the amount of groups) and then column them up to give the playing groups, this is quicker and doesn't rely on any pre determination on how a team will perform.

once the prelims are over the top y from each division go to a knockout, this knockout is organised with seed as the teams can be ranked from the prelims, they play a double knock out - playing the same team twice and the team with the highest points goes through and this continues until there is a grand final giving the winner - this form of organisation works in many sports like european football, this would also help joe bloggs when he comes to watch as he would easly see who won by looking at the "home and away" results
