That could be the problem, you could try downloading the latest version from sun at :-

Sorry mate same story here- running Windows XP, downloaded the newest version of Java first the download it, it comes up exactly like Andy said "picture of some guy playing 'ball and a shell window in the background, then it all shuts down."

I've scanned it & you dont appear to be sending us a virus so you must just have done it wrong

when's it due to be handed in?

I was using the 25 meg installer.

Same here. I tried both installers, but neither worked. I have the latest Java from SUN and I run Windows XP Pro SP2.

I'm running Java 1.5.0_06 from Sun Microsystems. So definitely not that mate.
