If you have an undiagnosed low level diabetic condition you'd have a different opinion.
Oh no, you wouldn't 'cos you'd be in a coma.
Atkins is a pointless extreme quick fix, anyone that can lose weight using it has the will power to lose weight without it. Gimmick diets are a waste of time, but once you've bought the book you tend to see it through....... they are all pretty much the same.............do ??????????? for two weeks, then maintain a healthy balanced diet.
As for a better diet?
Well....... reduce your daily total calorie intake by about 10% then increase your exercise regime gradually........ initialy just walking more, but building up aerobic exercise (as this burns off fat more efficiently) avoid fat as much as possible and try to eat about 40 minutes before exercise. Drink at least two litres (eight glasses) of water a day (more with exercise). Eat little and often as this fires up your metabolism and increases calorie use. Things to avoid: high fat foods (fat has twice the calories of sugar) and avoid cutting down on the amount you eat (rather than what) reduced eating actualy lowers your metabolism....... your body just assumes you've ran out of food and slows dowm it's metabolism to conserve energy. So snacking on low calorie stuff will actually boost your metabolism and burn of calories quicker.
Extreme diets only work because they give you a focus... the stuff you eat is irrelevant, you don't need all of this "expert opinion"...... ask a dietician........ not a bloke trying to sell you a book.
