Depends, if you got enough money go for both, if not go for Fallout 3 cos it has a longer gameplay than GoW2 but both of them are great games.

Fallout 3 is a very good game at any rate, but if you have Xbox live and can get into GOW2 multiplayer that is also just as good or better IMO.

Gears 2 for decent single player & online (Now I hear its been improved)

fall out 3 is basically oblivion with guns, but a bit shorter
havent tried GOW2 but GOW1 was pretty kwl

fallout 3 all the way cant get enough of the it and now that the new download packs are out its even better
i've played both gears of war and i liked them but once i had done them i never went back

gears 1 was so much harder, insane was a bitch to complete on 1 but had no trouble on 2

For longitivity - Fallout
for online - gow2
They're both fantastic games and i thoroughly enjoy playing both, even after game completion
With Fallout you can keep exploring the world and find all sorts of weird and wonderful things, i have completed the game, but have yet to explore even a quarter of the world I think.
Just get both, saves the dillema Haha
