There is are TON of fields and companies that call themselves Extreme, Xtreme, etc, etc, the list goes on.

Is paintball an eXtreme sport?

I've got this crazy eXtreme tv channel where it shows surfing, BMX riding and skating and stuff.

I really want to see more paintball stuff on tv, not that rubbish crossfire show if anyone has seen it.

So is paintball extreme? it better be
If not WHY not!?
Then what defines an extreme sport?

HOW DARE YOU!

Paintball, Sir, Is agame played by Gentlemen. It is NOT to be associated with the Cads and Bounders found in these so-called 'Extreme Sports'! Furthermore, a Gentleman would NEVER use the terminology and modes of apparel commonly found amongst such people!

I bid you Good Day Sir!!

Oh by the way, :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

There was a "mission: paintball" series on Bravo last year but I've no idea whether they're making another one at all but it was ok in that it was based at Campaign in Cobham, and showed "teams" playing proper games, a few of which were even sup'air events!

I think there were also a couple of times where they showed the overseas/non-UK teams competing in tournaments and stuff, but not sure where they would have been filmed - I hadn't "discovered" sup'air at that point ... (but have been looking ever since!!!)

Is Crossfire that one where they've got those ridiculous "Aliens" style guns and where they have to pretend to die when they get hit?

Well I seem to remember Tyger once saying that according to the X-Games people Paintball is not an extreme sport because it's a team game

I once tried to get sponsorship from Red Bull but they told me they didn't think Paintball was an extreme sport either (but didn't say why)

IMHO whilst it has the adrenaline buzz Paintball is far too safe to really be an extreme sport in the conventional sense

I think it was Tyger again, but I seem to rememebr seeing on these very forums a while ago:

Paintball can't be an extreme sport, there isn't the risk of severe injury!
Or words to that effect. We're a bunch of wusses cos we try to minimise the injury risk :p

(apart from goggles, we wear knee/shin/elbow pads, and whinge when our tourneys aren't hosted on flat smooth grass ;) :D )

:D How could I forget? I know opinion was divided whether Crossfire was good publicity or not, but really - production values anyone?!

I think for "extreme" qualification you need more people with tattoos and trousers slung so low they can only walk by a crab-like sideways motion. Oh, and spiky hair and facial piercings too. I.e. skiing: not extreme; snowboarding :extreme.

No offensde to boarders, but the only difference I can spot is one ski and a few avalanches :D :D
