my god, it wasnt a dig at me:eek:

another good thing about the event was the lack of handheld chronys, all fields used the big red chronys which are accurate and used on the range, so i dont have to run at 260 to be safe, now i can run at 280, still get the fools that run on border line of 300fps for some stupid reason, then wonder why chronying takes so long on field because the marshall has to make sure its fine, on no less than 2 games we waited for at least 5 mins cos guys had set it so their fps was like 299...and of course, it beeped cos it was over:mad:

Bit slow following I know but dont forget MM is 5 man so of course is going to be cheeper !!!!

Without giving to much away, playing yesterday cost me about £70 (entry & paint only). I've paid £80 + for a five man down the temple before and the paint price was't THAT different !!!

I for one am happiy to pay an extra £10 if it means the M25 lasts longer than the temple did cos its already 1000 times better and only into its 6th event

Congrats Sparklie and the team for running what is fast becoming the MUST PLAY series in the UK

Sparklie has given exceptional value for your money, so when you ask her to give more (more refs, fields etc) she will need to charge more.
£300 for an 8 game tourney is good going in my books.
No way I would (or could afford to) pay £300.00 per tourny.

That works out at £5.36 per game before paint. If you use approx £10.00 of paint per game thats £15.00 for a game of anywhere between 0 and 8 minutes!

Its all well and good getting the public interested but if they can't afford to play there's no point in encouraging spectators.

Why should 5 man be cheaper?

You have two less players per team @ £37.00pp = £74.00 per team.

If you have 45 teams entered thats £3,300 less income than a 7 man tourny.

I know there are more marshalls to pay and larger fields but the cost per player shouldn't be any more for a 7 man tourny than a 5 man tourny.

I am not accusing the organisers of profiteering, they do an excellent job for very little (if any) reward.

All I am saying is that entry fees can not keep going up if we want to expand the sport, it is already one of the most expensive sports around!

'sides, I'm entering a team and I don't want to be marshalled out of it in the first two games. If we crash and burn then I want it to be my doing and no one elses!;)
What has Robbo finally rubbed off on you? You know you will have to spend some pennys, Rhodesian camo al la Predators doesn't cut it anymore :D :D Oh and don't forget that we use POTS of paint now not tubes ;) :p

Jon,

Until you've played a MM I would'nt comment too much. They normally have 5 plus fields all the same size as the M25, plus all teams get a minimum 8 games, through 6 divisions. Although I play the m25, the MM has influenced the M25 in many ways, and does represent very good value.

And whilst the organisers are not to blame for no shows, 300 quid for only 6 games in Div3 is a little expensive (assuming you had'nt paid up in advance). So by the end of the day, and every team member (bar 1) has sat out a game we're paying 10 quid each for a 8 min game. Add on a min 2 cases of paint a game and it is an expensive dayout.

I'm not trying to detract from the work put in on the M25, just straighten out the facts a little.

I would just like to note that the tournament fee was definitely £250, with the extra £50 only to be paid by teams who didn't pay their deposit on time. This was done due to teams pulling out in the last few days - we've found that if it costs them a lost deposit by doing that then either they don't commit in the first place or they make a bigger effort to attend. Teams dropping out within 2 days of the actual event is why Div 3 was short on games this time - if they'd actually told us 24 hours earlier then I could have re-jigged the divisions to make it fairer so please blame that team not us for the shortage of games.

Also, as the person who takes the game fees on the day I can categorically state that NO team paid more than £250 last Sunday.
