fair enough. just to clarify, i think that your idea would be awesome! just thought that if some players are playing just to get paid, then maybe they are playing for the wrong reasons.

If the MS still intent to return 100% of the entree-fees as prizemoney you need to have a winner of the day/tournament.
Personally i think you don't want to have the money of the four legs going to only three teams at the end of the season.
To give the whole thing more body you need to have an overall winner, someone needs to be european champions :D
Might as well be the danes...

Ok, so the formats of the EXL and Div 1 Xball are seemingly undecided (or else the details have just not been released), but i like the way Nick has been thinking, with the 8 EXL teams playing what he described in his plan. Would the Div 1 Xball be limited to say 16 teams, where a double elimination shcedule would work with no byes? Ensuring an event winner, and ensuring every team gets at least 2 games per event? I reckon that around 16 teams at the very minimum will enter the Div 1 Xball format, as many Euro teams have expressed it here, and i would imagine a lot of American teams would come over also

Nick, how many playdays and how many fields do you take in account ?
*edit >>> With this i mean for both the EXL and Division 1 X-Ball

ok Nick

Just read Robbo's interview with Steven Baldwin,
just wait and see how the details evolve...

but just to get back on the original subject,
double elimination and a winner of the day/tournament
leading in the end to a european champ is the way to
go for the EXL in my opinion...

On a different note, the European Champion should have a seperate match against the US champ.
By this i mean a 1on1 between the US Champ and the Euro Champ, i think that's a bigger thing then playing inbetween 7 US teams at the WC...
They couldt make it a seperate match and hype the **** out of it...:D
In the perception of the viewing audience this wouldt be a bigger thing than the other option...

thx Nick, so 4 will go >>> no ''supabout'' then :D

here are the two schedules discussed, could you confirm if the double elimination is correct.
I'm not sure about the ''quarter finals'' >>> do they still play a 2nd game ?

it's this

or this

If this is correct it will means 13 games against 27 games,
on a production side of things that's a huge difference...
I found it also perculiar that a losing team could in the end
play 5 matches and still win the tournament >>> double k.o. is a strange format ;)

There is only one problem with Nick's solution - to the NXL schedule - care must be taken to arrange the "league play" part of the schedule, in this is mean the pool games.

It should work out that for the season - all teams play each other twice. I haven't done the math (too early on a sunday morning) to see if it is possible, but form what I remember from last years NXL there was sometimes an uneven (but necessary) number of games played by some teams. This was done to make sure that all teams played each other the correct number of time.

Now after I have woken up - or Nick beats me to it - I will see if there is a way to arrange the first 3 games at each event so that all teams play each other twice.

One final thing - how are we now going to figure out who goes to the states?? Do we use the scores from just the pool games? do we use all the scores - which wouldn't be fair because the teams would not play each other the same number of times when it came to game 5&6. Do we use the pool scores and then give the teams a bonus based on how they finish at each event?? (might work).

Mixing the "league play" and individual tournament play - opens up a whole new can'o'worms.

stupid me

probably was a little bit late to do that stuff, pics are updated
your right it's 20 vs 14 games, makes it more doable.
Finding a overall winner for the season in your proposal shouldn't be to hard...
