Another thing is.....

Reading about the NXL - or watching media clips - this past season, there was a tendency to think "ok, Philly beat NY in Chicago....... WHO CARES ?"
But that is because you do not support either of these teams Nick. I am a chelsea fan, if Newcastle are playing West Ham and Newcstle win, i couldnt care less, but if Chelseas are playing it is a different matter. Supporters of those teams will care. In any other league in the world, supporters get as worked up as they can when Man U play Chelsea on a saturday afternoon, with nothing to gain by the players but 3 points in the league. If i am at a paintball event, and the final is Avalanche vs Ground Zero, i couldnt care less who would win, because i am not from the area where those are largely suypported.(ok so that is not quite part of the way paintball works yet, but you know what i mean)
Personally i dont need the incentive of money to win to play as hard as i can, because playing in the EXL will be motivation enough. I dont think that other players want cash to make them play well. It will be a by product of playing well.
The only benefit of having a structure other than a league format is that the audience will get a sense of who has won the event, which io guess is a neccesary thing to have if it is to be televised.
I do however agree with your suggestions, and think that you are on to a winner, merely because you have a system where teams get a lot of games each, and thats what i wanna see.
Why do you:
"I prefer players and teams to be able to win money and glory at each event."
Shouldnt participation in the best league be enough? Or am i being niaive?
