May be the wrong forum but if so mod please relocate.
Think I may just have blown a sale:( as I was griefing my buyer about having "parental consent to buy"
Surely [the guy didnt have a credit card, got the vibe he was young]if a buyer is under eighteen you cant sell. [Markers=Air Weapons]
If an under age got hold of a marker did something daft, wouldnt the liability go back to the seller private or commercial.

Anybody prepared to put in writing the legal spin on this or advise.

I know for a fact that you can buy an air rifle / air weapon at the age of 17 (this coming from my father who is a police man).

Though there is a loop hole in a way in the fact that paintball guns are not classed as 'rifles' as they are not shooting an object through a rifled barrel. So it is technically just an air powered toy (yes i know what your all going to say about them not being a toy but look at it like a hair drier maybe?)

One other thing would be that air rifles can be given to minors as a gift. But they may not use it or carry it in public areas (i.e. walking down the road etc ...) But you can use it in a controlled / private area (i.e. in terms of paintball a paintball site).

So basically you are fine to sell it to someone if you are aware that they are 17 or over (if you are concerned about the law and dont want to risk / debate a loop hole) and or through there parents.

If you get confused search on google for derbyshire police forces website and then look for

PNLD (Police National Legal Database)

then you can search for air rifles / weapons legal laws etc ...

enjoy hope this was helpfull

If they are over the age of 14 they are allowed to use the marker on private property with parental consent, but without supervision and as long as its limited to under 300 fps, you should be fine I guess?

280 fps ...

But to be fair i would make sure the lads got parental consent to buy it if they are 14.

As long as the money comes in and the goods go out just sit back and relax.

And just because someone is under 18, doesnt make them likely to go around shooting people in the face with it.

It's dangerous kit, but from what I can gather the under 18 age group is an important part of the market. I wouldn't be too happy if anyone could pick up a marker at Tesco, but if someone knows their stuff then they're a valid customer.

i got my first marker through a reputable uk store at 16. two years on i've been through a fair few markers, and have had no issues buying any; plus i've not been using them in any suspicious / illegal way, so i think i deserve a gold star or something...
