Surely it's just the same as as an Ion is to a Shocker? Same technology, different implementation!
I applaud both WDP and Planet for opening the market up to new players with less of a budget. Some players don't know about P8 and some only wanna buy new so you get the piece of mind of warranty etc.
They are both businesses and therefore don't care about the second hand market, but the major blow to marker sales has been the people selling them! A new budget Planet marker will affect all Ego sales because that's what happens, but sale prices of 2nd hand markers will still be affected by the people selling them.
WDP got a bad name because they brought out a marker that was "top of the line", then 6 months later they brought out another that was "top of the line" and so on and so forth (and a few PL markers)... and in the end people didn't really know which was the best marker they had for sale!
Planet brought out the 05, then 2 team guns (XSV & Nexus) and 1 PL model (Mantis). Then they brought out the 06 with 2 team guns (Nexus and SL66 for XSV) and one PL (Dark Ego). All of the upgrades were done through a learning process, they asked what players wanted and then added it to the next incarnation.
Now both companies have decided to release budget markers, WDP completely changing their game and designing a new marker, and Planet by redesigning their winning formula. I think they both deserve credit.
Looking at the specs of both markers, they will both be sh*t hot! The Angel 1 seems to have more features but that is reflected in the price.
The best way to settle any argument would be for PGI to have a Face-Off!
