Why is it that wdp spend months and months pretending to bring out a new marker (Teasing people with release information and pretend photo's) and Eclipse bring out a new marker without hardley anyone knowing they were going to release a new marker (well I didn't anyway).

Well done Eclipse!

Its unsurprising that WDP are suffering with a downturn in sales.

Can i ask what this is in aid of jim?

No official angel picks were released, all the crappy ones you saw were off pbnation, until recently. They didn't pretend anything, the infomation was mainly romour. Which people (don't want to point fingers) obviously read into

So by releasing a marker that was hyped up defore the release date WDP sales will be effected? People often complain that second hand sales for Angels is crap because of WDP always releasing a new marker, How many variation on the ego have come out?

The resale of egos is going to drop again due the the release of the Etek - i'm sure some ego owners won';t behappy about this.

BTW i have nothing against P.E or WDP its great to see 2 UK compaines ripping it up against the yankes:D

Location, Location.
People - the etek is not an ego. It is its own gun in its own right.

Just as the Angel1 is its own gun in its own right.

Its two different marketing strategies and that is all it is. WDP went for the all out teaser styling marketing and planet went for shock tactics. Thats all it is.

Never owned and ego, but you can see the simialrity in the etek to the ego.

Sure its not just like a pugeuot 106 and a saxo, look a little bit different but essentially are the same thing?

im just asking the questions as my knowledge on ego's isnt that good, anyone?

Mario, I can't believe you really think that. It's a budget Ego, just like the speed 06 is a budget G7.

Nothing wrong with budget versions but I know full well, performance wise, there is nothing between a G7 and a Speed06, it just depends if you want to spend the extra cash on the thrills. Sure the same will be the case with the Etec and Ego. If you want all the kills without the thrills, and a little change for your sky rocket - many will opt for a new Etek over a second hand Ego6.

There is no doubt about it, it WILL effect the resale of second hand Ego6's...

So technically it's not an Eclipse marker, but an ETek one.
Both companies are releasing just as many markers as the other. Funnily enough though they're being sold, so maybe it's not such a bad idea :D

if planet had made a big tease of the e*tek then there would have been a lot of disapointment when it finally got unvieled. While it is nice and fits a more budget end of the spectrum it really isn't THAT special and harldy any different from the egos people have been rocking for the last couple of years. If you're currently shooting an eg06 then I'd consider the e*tek a bit of a downgrade.

The AngelOne really is very different from the G7 and previous, fair enough there are only so many ways to skin a cat but the engine has been totally overhauled and re-thought. It's a top of the line gat for an acceptable price especially when you consider the fact that you get a barrel kit with it.

Surely it's just the same as as an Ion is to a Shocker? Same technology, different implementation!

I applaud both WDP and Planet for opening the market up to new players with less of a budget. Some players don't know about P8 and some only wanna buy new so you get the piece of mind of warranty etc.

They are both businesses and therefore don't care about the second hand market, but the major blow to marker sales has been the people selling them! A new budget Planet marker will affect all Ego sales because that's what happens, but sale prices of 2nd hand markers will still be affected by the people selling them.

WDP got a bad name because they brought out a marker that was "top of the line", then 6 months later they brought out another that was "top of the line" and so on and so forth (and a few PL markers)... and in the end people didn't really know which was the best marker they had for sale!

Planet brought out the 05, then 2 team guns (XSV & Nexus) and 1 PL model (Mantis). Then they brought out the 06 with 2 team guns (Nexus and SL66 for XSV) and one PL (Dark Ego). All of the upgrades were done through a learning process, they asked what players wanted and then added it to the next incarnation.

Now both companies have decided to release budget markers, WDP completely changing their game and designing a new marker, and Planet by redesigning their winning formula. I think they both deserve credit.

Looking at the specs of both markers, they will both be sh*t hot! The Angel 1 seems to have more features but that is reflected in the price.

The best way to settle any argument would be for PGI to have a Face-Off!
