I'd complain to the bloke you nicked it off.

Has the battery leaked, or is it just cracked open but still dry?

could something have shorted accross the top of the battery in your bag. I remember when i was 13, i made a pack of aa rechargeables for a mate. On my way to his house a coin shorted the pack in my pocket, and nearly roasted my leg. It's amazing how hot these baby's can get.

I think you'll find that they are not so co-operative these days.
Many years ago a family friend returned a "marathon" bar and recieved a box and an apology by return.
:)great:)
18months ago a mate returned a faulty Mars bar and recieved a replacement Mars bar, and they wouldn't even cover his postage costs?
:psad:p

Hi Lovetone,

Without seeing the battery, you can understand that it’s very difficult for us to figure what happened. That’s why we would like to ask you to ship that battery to our office. In return, we will be pleased to mail you a new pack of 9V. Email us at usa@energypaintball.com

Just to reassure everyone, batteries in general and Energy Paintball batteries in particular don’t explode for no reason.

According to your posts, the battery wasn’t new but in a dry and not overheated environment. If the battery was out of its casing (cardboard/plastic pack), it might have touch a metal part and cause an internal cell short that cause the battery to overheat and explode.

You have all heard about 9V batteries overheating when in contact with a coin. (see Ton Allen’s post). That might be a reason.

There is no way a battery used properly would explode inside your marker or loader. It’s technically impossible. It needs to be beat-up, overheated, pierced or whatnot to create a short or a internal leak.
Even though we are confident that the problem doesn't come from a manufacturing error, we do apologize for the inconvenience.

Once again, not having the battery in hand doesn’t help to figure this out… but anyway, I can assure you the Energy Paintball Batteries are safe. We will be in Paris for the Millennium event this week.

And keep in mind that Pro Players, such as Nicky T, Ryan Greenspan, Thomas Taylor, Chris Lasoya, Mr U, Max & Alex Lundqvist and many more trust Energy Paintball.
