Paul, had to drop mine down to level 1 on mine to get a totally chop free experience, just too much tension in that ball stack. Don't forget that the motors and springs will differ greatly (manufacturing tolerances etc) from Halo to Halo so what setting might work for one seems to be different for another.
Beaker, but surely greasing the belt just does the same as reducing the speed in that it just lowers some of the tension in the ball stack? Or are you saying that you already reduced it to the lowest setting?

I can use mine on any setting without problems, but if you are putting the board in an older halo rather than a whole new one as I got, then if there is less grease on the belt more tension will be applied.
But yeah, I have never really had problems with any of my halos blending paint inside the hopper, only breach related ones.
