i'd choose a Proto everytime.

i went from an Ego to a PM7 w/ul frame in early January and havent had a single problem in any weather. Now the PM's have self cleaning eyes and an ul as standard, their basicaly DM7's without the price tag;) and personaly i think they shoot alot smoother and their miles quieter than the Ego.

i'm counting the seconds for my PM8 to arrive :D

Proto all the way

dm/pm up dwell up fsdo(if you have a upgrade board) take lpr to 200-225 psi. you will use more air than normal but it will still run sweet.
im sure it was on here the norweigan team use dye and posted a thread on how to look after pm/dm in cold weather, ive had my dm5 for 2 years and since i got past the "maintenance learning curve" i aint had any problems.

also look at all this provided help for dm/pm

The PM8 hasn't been around for long and I am willing to bet that a lot of people on this thread haven't held or used them:eek:
Uhm its a DM7 with a few tweaks and the AWESOME NEW Hyper3 Reg... Even the milling aint that different!

Dude I have been an ego fan boy all my life, only ever gave the PM's a chance this year due to sponsorship. And I was, and still am, very impressed!
The guns are accurate as hell and easy to look after, yeah they need a lil more TLC now and then. But I strip and clean any gun after a days play anyway.

But alas the choice is yours dont ask us ugly buggers, try get chance to hold and play with them. Both guns are excellent grade and will serve you well, but they do "feel" very different.

]I think some of the opinions about the weather affecting spool valve guns are grossly exagerated but may come from the old dye lube that wasn't really designed for cold-weather conditions. That lube was replaced a long time ago and with the new formula (or dow 33) lube on your matrix, its fine.
thats what happens when stuff is designed in callifornia:rolleyes:

..they just dont know what really weather is ;)

I would choose the ego tbh mate, the PM8 is nice but I personally can't shoot a PM gun comfortably without an UL frame.
Hi

The PM8 comes with UL frame as standard, as well as the same self cleaning eye system that can be found in the DM7, the awesome new Hyper3 reg, and the all new LPR for 2008.

All that for under £450 brand new. You cant grumble...

PM/DMs are good guns but will require more time spent on the tech bench taking them apart. Depends what you're in to
This a very common myth amongst non matrix users. Maintaining a healthy Matrix often requires nothing more than cleaning and re-lubing the bolt assembly after a days play, or if you were unfortunate enough to break paint, after a match (but we do that whatever gun we are shooting, right?).

Ash, I have two PMs so it's not a myth from my point of view. They run perfect in the summer with an o-ring changing every so often but now they need to be played around with for a few minutes for the winter. I'm saying with the ego you will hardly ever have it open, or play with the board.

Yes, you may need to adjust you settings for the winter, but that is something you would have to do once a year, when winter draws in.

A Matrix at stock settings will work in the summer and winter with very few problems. In the summer you can get away with running the LPR very low, when the colder weather sets in, you need to return to higher settings as the conditions do not allow you to keep running your marker so close to the margins of its performance.

Remember if you do have any problems during the winter to consult both of these threads for advice. Most of the time, returning the marker to its stock settings resolves any problems.
