The grip screw tightening issue affects the solenoid valve more than the QEVs. The QEVs have a seal in them that wears out after a while and they need replacing, that's why the ego9 was designed without them.

bought off forum

did you tighten the bottom grip frame screws too much? I know I was warned about doing that with my 07
it was bought off the forums and for some reason seemed to eat alot of air, ego stopped working and we found the qev had a fracture down one side and the thread had popped it must have been leaking for some time , new qev working gun and no excessive air refills

I've never heard the term "eclipse sheep" before, but then again the Irish paintball scene probably isn't big enough for people to be rigidly divided into product camps :D. Personally I prefer Egos to other markers, it's just personal preference, rather than "OMG! XSV use Egos, so they must be good ". My younger bro got an Etek1 early this year and soon after testing it out, everyone on our team, apart from two guys, went out and bought Egos. So 7 of us are using Egos at the moment, would we be classed as "eclispe sheep"?

And thus support all the patent leases and parts they buy from other countries ;)
Ooh dont say that you naugty person.

I do think the term sheep can only be thought of as a compliment to PE.
With most markers you can find some legitemate insults.

Whether its it Bob Longs shoddy tolerances, the DM being not as good as the PM, and Smart parts being the embodiement of pure evil.

But it seems eclipse have most of the boxes ticked.
To use a products popularity as an insult, is sort of a last resort argument.

DMs are better than PMs, much better until the pm8 was released, however i have owned both a pm8 and a dm8 and the dm is still nicer for sure.

sounds like an AK .......tick
shoots smooth as....sandpaper? .... tick
being able to screw through the grips into the noid..... tick

:p

Now im not bashing on egos here, they are nice guns, but people seem to think they are better than they really are. the only thing that sets the ego apart from anything else is ease of maintenance and reliabilty, however if you spend 10 mins re lubing your dm after playing and dont just sit on your arse and let it fester at the bottom of your kitbag, it will be just as reliable, and shoot alot nicer.
