Don't know if anyone else has seen this?
Attention Sellers:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Important forthcoming Policy Change that may affect your listing. Please read the following.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New amendments to our prohibited items policies may affect the type of item you are listing.

With effect from 20 December 2004 , it will not be permitted to list paintball guns on ebay.co.uk.

This is in accordance with eBay´s Firearms policy, which we will amend to expressly refer to paintball guns.

Firearms cannot be listed on eBay. Firearms include all "pre- ban," sporting, collectible, curio & relic (C&R), and antique firearms, regardless of their capability to fire a shot.

Any item that is designed to propel a metal (or similar) projectile is covered by this ban, regardless of that item's present ability to fire. Listings containing firearms will be ended.

Paintball guns, listed on eBay on or after 20 December 2004 will be ended in accordance with this policy.

For more information on eBay's firearm policy, please go to the following page:

That sounds pretty similar to the thing that I encountered this time last year when I was selling my Impy.
They removed my auction the first time for god knows what reason and the second time I was very careful about how I described the marker and it was fine.
As far as I can see they only remove your auction if it has the words "gun" or "bullets" or similar sorta things in it. So as long as you call your marker a marker you'll be ok :p Or at least I always have been :p

Totally banned!

Had this email the other week.
Seems they are writing "paintball guns" into the prohibited items list this time. This means they will be lumped in with firearms!!
Means that even if you list it with goggles, any "jobsworth" who reports the item is assured of getting it instantly banned. This removes the grey area that has been around for a while.
The only reason I can see for doing this, as markers are not illegal, is to avoid possible legal action against eBay, for the sale of markers to minors.
Still suck though.

Not really

Well there are no credit card checks for buyers, only sellers need some form of account to pay for the listing fees, so the age of the buyer is an unknown quantity!
Example: 13 yr old makes up eBay account, buys a marker and pays with Postal orders. He will pay a bit more with the postal orders but "hey presto" he owns a paintball marker!

there is a way of getting round the whole age thing. All it takes is for phone confirmation from the ebay user and if under 18 then there is a parental control or viewing lock on some iteams such as firearms

ebay are jsut too damm lazy to do anything of the sort cos it will increase costs slightly
