I actually think that allow them is the right decision, no real padding are in the dye jerseys... really really thin...

too much teams has bought it, what are they going to dye, eat them and buy another ones... :S, not all the teams can afford change the jersey twice a year...

this just look cool, no other porpouse in the new dye jerseys padding I think, I have seen a lot of balls broken in the showlder pads of the dye jerseys...

Just my opinion

But the argument has gone beyond the Dye jerseys to the fact that now there is no definitive "Do's and Don't's" of jerseys.

We need to know, and the manufacturers SHOULD know, what is and isn't allowed.

Changing the rules because too many people bought them is just crazy. If lots of people had markers that only fired in burst mode, would that then become tourny legal, just because they can't afford to buy two new markers a year?

yes, I know the the rules must be cristal clear.

because the manufacturers need to know it, I agree with you in this point, and I agree too, that the existence or use of something not tornament legal isn't a reason to admit it in tournament.

what I want to say is that the dye jerseys has a real thin pad, indeed it doesn't actually has any "padding" function, just my opinion, only looks ;) I have seen a NexuS dye jersey this weekend, (the one of Nicky T) and the padding is really really thin, too thin to be effective. Or at least I think so.

why

On a personel note i think the padding spoils the whole game there will be more bounces which makes it harder to marshall
player screaming check him out more arguments , but even more so my attitude is no pain no game there ya go my 2p worth;)

Sponsorship

We are sponsored to use a certain type of paint, and so for other teams like us who can't change paint, do we just have to like it or lump it?

The Dye jerseys are probably not padded too much, but the whole crux is how much is too much, what if they are wearing 2 of them (because you can wear 2 jerseys) If you can have padded tops, then why not padded hoppers?

Just because it looks cool doesn't make it okay. What if I was to design a hopper with foam sections that 'looked cool'? would that be made tourny legal?

Or maybe it would only be made legal if I was a major sponsor, and could use that as leverage :-p

Chill Manson I am with you on this.

My point is a lot of paint manufactoures are now all doing something with a fragile shell, be it Diablo, RP, Zap or Severe or WDP they are all coming round to that way of thinking. So really the amount of padding is not the issue as WHAT IS EXCESS? is really the wuestion we should be asking. As no one knows!

Well, doh! ;) That's how knee pads made it to the ankles, and elbow pads to the wrists, and terrycloth wipes to glove thumbs, and impellers to gravity-fed hoppers, etc.

And don't chill, Manson. Or pay any attention to Pipes as it's the very ambiguity of the language used in the "rules" like, what's excessive, that has allowed this kind of nonsense to become an issue over and over again.
